2025 Event

Queer Walks & Plaques

Sunday 9 February, 11.45am-3.30pm

Join us for a creative workshop-experience celebrating Newham’s LGBTQ+ history and future.

Take part in a guided walking tour led by local artists, Artizine and jdwoof exploring significant but often overlooked LGBTQ+ spaces and stories in Newham.

You will be able to reflect on your own lived experiences and record your findings through hand-made zines.

After the walk, unleash your creativity in a plaque-making art activity inspired by London’s iconic blue plaques — with a radical twist. Participants will be encouraged to design commemorative plaques honouring their own queer histories and futures, reimagining the local archive with joy and pride.

This event fosters collective memory and alternative ways of documenting and celebrating queer lived experiences.

Come create, connect, and contribute to a shared legacy of Newham’s vibrant LGBTQ+ community.
