Difficult Conversations

Chaired by LBN Councillor Joshua Garfield, this online panel discussion will focus on those difficult conversations around the intersectionalities of LGBT+, faith, race, gender and disability.

Panellists are Revd Jide McCauley of the House of Rainbow, Ejel Khan of Muslim LGBT Network and Kirsten Hearn, consultant, facilitator, coach, trainer in inclusive practices and feminist activist.

Cllr Joshua Garfield

Cllr Joshua Garfield is a Labour Councillor representing Stratford & New Town on Newham Council and is both a member of the Jewish and LGBT+ community.

Revd Jide McCaulay

Reverend Jide Macaulay is the founding Pastor and CEO of House Of Rainbow CIC. Openly gay British-Nigerian born in London, a Christian minister since 1998, a dynamic and an inspirational speaker, author, poet, pastor and preacher, HIV Positive Activist, holds a degree in Law, masters degree in Theology and Post-graduate certificate in Pastoral Theology. Jide focuses his ministry on inclusion and reconciliation of sexuality, spirituality and human rights. Currently Board of Trustee at Kaleidoscope Trust UK, Chairperson INERELA+ Europe, Patron at ReportOut, nOSCARS Award winner 2014, 2017, 2018, Volunteer Chaplain at Mildmay Hospital and a Trained Volunteer Champion at Afruca Children’s Charity.

Ejel Khan

Ejel Khan is an intersectional  human rights activist, Network Co-ordinator for LGBT Muslim Network and expert in media arts.

Kirsten Hearn

Kirsten Hearn’s official CV says (take a deep breath) that she’s a: “leader, facilitator, coach, trainer, consultant, and non-executive director at national and regional level, from a public service, community action, equality and creative arts background”, (phew! Mops brow) but… She is a Blind, Lesbian, Feminist Activist, agitating her way gracefully towards eventual retirement, whilst organising the Revolution.
