Indie Queer Choir Fest

Join Newham Music for the Indie Queer Choir Festival – two days of inspiring workshops, open rehearsals, and performances featuring Errata, F*Choir, and the London Trans Choir.

Celebrate diversity, inclusion, and community through music. The whole programme will take place at Newham Music Hub: Westfield.

All voices are welcome—come sing, connect, and uplift!

Event Programme:

Saturday 15 February:
Introduction to Estill Voice Training Workshop
10am-1pm
In this Introduction to Estill Voice Training, led by Blair Kelly, participants will explore and experiment with a wide range of sounds made through isolations of 13 structures in the vocal tract.

F*Choir Open Session (sold out)
2-4pm
F*Choir open sessions are a chance to meet, connect, vibrate, vocalise, laugh, play, explore and blow off some steam. You can expect physical and vocal warmups, quick cannons and queer folk chants-cum-dance tunes, group sonic meditations, and an introduction to some of the F*Choir repertoire from Artistic Director Jenny Moore.

Music and Activism Workshop
4.30-6pm
This year’s LGBTQ+ History month theme is Activism and Social Change. Led by musicians and community advocates MIRI and Mila, this workshop will explore and demonstrate how we can use music and words to activate awareness on causes that are important to us and as an outlet to express ourselves.

Concert Performance (with performances from the London Trans Choir and MIRI)

Celebrate diversity, inclusion, and community through music at Indie Queer Choir Fest! To finish off our day of workshops, the unique voices of London Trans Choir and boutique singer-songwriter MIRI present an uplifting concert.

Sunday 16 February:
Open Mic hosted by Forest Gayte Pride
4.30-6pm
To close the Indie Queer Choir Festival, Forest Gayte Pride will host an open mic night at Newham Music Hub. Perform your favourite covers by queer artists, share your own original songs, or come along to show your support to Newham’s community of singers!
